This is a Buescher tenor saxophone marketed under the “Elkhart” name. Buescher acquired the Elkhart Band Instrument Company (similar to Conn’s purchase of Pan American and Martin’s of Indiana) and retained the name (with the “Built by Buescher” tag) for this line of instruments which were marketed to students. This instrument is similar in design to the Buescher Aristocrat horns and has about 5% of its lacquer left. Although these instruments were marketed to students, this horn was manufactured in the 1940’s or 50’s, when student instruments were usually just pro horns without the bells and whistles, like fancy engraving. This is true Buescher instrument and features the great vintage Buescher sound! Comes with a Ritter brand gig bag which is in great shape.
